Fifty Two on Fridays {Week 28} Summer

Goodness there are so many things that say Summer. The smell of suntan lotion, the taste of popsicles, the droopy drawers of a wet kid. The list goes on and on. There are two things that I look forward to every year 1) Hummingbirds. They make me happy. Seriously happy. and 2) the blooms of a honeysuckle. Ahhh, the sweet smell is Summer therapy.

Thank you for stopping by!

B Family {Big Bear Family Photography}

Some of you may remember the family contest I held back in...February, was it? Well the B family played along and even though they didn't win the big prize they did get their name drawn out of a hat by my little Ava for a mini-session. We had tried a few times to get it done but the weather and haircuts foiled the plans. It worked out better that way though because when they came to Big Bear the weather was divine. They are such a sweet family, easy to be with. Their little ones were fans of my jelly beans and even though they were tired and a little unimpressed with the photographic duties at hand, an occasional jelly bean could bribe a little bit of something sweet from them. Thank you B family for visiting my neck of the woods. It was a pleasure to get to know you a little and capture some moments that I hope you'll treasure. xoxo

Handsome Baby Caden {Big Bear Lake Arrowhead Family Photographer}

Ahh, sweet baby Caden. He was so super sleepy and squishy and sweet. I first met this family two years ago when they had their first baby, Riley. I'm so thankful when I get to remain in the lives of the people I meet and watch their families grow and change. It was really fun to meet Caden (who was born on his Daddy's birthday) and to see Riley all grown and beautiful. This family deserves nothing but sweet bliss. And they have it... times two! Thank you for coming up to Big Bear and spending the afternoon with us! Enjoy your sneak peek M family! xoxo

Did I mention how much I LOVED Caden's hair?!!!

Vintage Ashley

I'm always dreaming things up but making them happen usually takes me months. This is no exception. It's not like I had a ton of little things to collect for this session besides clothes and accessories but for some reason this session was like a pregnancy, 9 months! Just kidding, but it did feel that way. I originally had a model lined up who didn't work out after two months of planning, but thankfully, because then I wouldn't have used Ashley for it and she was just too perfect. There are so many little details about the little things that I wish I could share but I don't want to bore you to death so I'll spare the details and just share the images from the day....
We started out in a tree..a really big tree.

Then we hit the meadow with the magical hazy light..

Isn't this dress DIVINE!? I got it from my adoptive Mom, thank you MOM!

Next we went to my favorite truck. This truck is smack dab in the middle of someone's yard. THANK YOU Frank!

Then we threw off the vintage and went classic at a perfect little harbor on the lake. Thank you Captain John!

Thank you Ashley for being you. You are wonderful and sweet and I enjoyed you! Thank you Laura for coming along with me on my craziness and for our slumber party afterwards!

Fifty Two on Fridays {Week 25} Emotion

A few weeks ago I photographed this beautiful family. To share the love in them would be to tell you that I really enjoyed editing their session. I felt like with each picture, each new time I saw their faces, that I got a little gift all over again. They are so special. This is one of my faves from that day. The little guy was just done with photos, but the second Dad grabbed him and wrestled him over it was all smiles again. It's amazing what the arms of a loving Dad can do. Dads, cherish your babies, they won't be little for long and what you do now matters more then you could ever imagine. Happy Father's "Month"!

Fifty Two on Fridays {Week 24} Whimsical

This week is whimsical and with this theme I feel right at home. I guess it's my favorite thing to dream about. The word conjurs up the thought of childhood laughter, warm sunshine, and a place or time that's just a little more magical then ordinary. I love whimsical! Sorry, there was NO WAY I could pick just one.
Here is my Ava enjoying 5 minutes of whimsy with Mommy in the neighbors yard...
