The C Family {Big Bear Lake Arrowhead Family Photography}

Last week I drove out to Lancaster to meet up with a special family. I've known them for a long time. Mindy even drove to Big Bear when her 2 year old was a newborn so that I could practice on her when I first started out. It was fun to see that little newborn so big! The weather had been sketchy that week but we decided to do it anyway and it worked out perfectly. And "PaPa" found a little morsel of beauty tucked away in the forest that we could shoot at. The little ones didn't want a whole lot to do with me or my honkin' camera but I chased them around anyway and got some sweet captures. Thank you C family! It was great to see you again!!

Fifty Two on Fridays {Week 16} Pastel

Pastel is perfect for this week. I had a few ideas and it was a tie between these two so in the end I decided to use them both. :) I went to 3 different stores to find 5 different colors of Peeps. And I learned that Peeps come in 6 colors, the only one I'm missing is orange, which I've never seen before. The bunny is our very pesky pet, Kingston. He's a sketchy little guy. I wonder if it has anything to do with me using him as a prop. Hmmm, I might want to consider that as the cause. LoL! Happy Easter!!

Gaviota, CA Bloom Shoot {Big Bear Lake Arrowhead Photography}

Last weekend I got together in Gaviota, CA with a talented group of ladies for a shoot-out. We're all on the same forum together and we all have the bond of photography. Jen from Z's The Day Photography did an amazing job at putting this together at a gorgeous blueberry farm. She did casting calls for all our sweet models and her friend Vernie was gracious enough to let us all descend on her beautiful land for the day. My friend Laura of Twice As Nice Photography, drove me out there and put up with me all day. I really enjoyed the time with her. Thank you Laura! I met some wonderful ladies and saw some familiar faces too. It was so super nice to see all of you! Vernie, thank you for having us and your hospitality. You are sweet to the core! Fifty Two on Fridays {Week 15} Texture

I could have taken so many pictures this week for Texture. As a photographer, we get really keen on the textures around us. But one texture that I love, one that always makes me smile and even brings me back to my own childhood is the wrinkly hands and feet of my bath-soaked kids. There is something about that texture that is funny, sweet, and nostalgic all at the same time. No matter who you are, or what your story is....at some point in life you've had bath induced wrinkles too. ;)

Petti Rompers and Headbands OH MY! {Big Bear Lake Arrowhead Photography}

I recently connected with a talented and local Etsy artist. If you don't know what Etsy is, it's a site for everything beautiful, creative, and either handmade or vintage. It's a paradise to me. Just looking around on Etsy feeds my inner artistic beast. So last week "N" came over and dropped off a load of gorgeousness that I was able to play with right away. It just so happened that my little niece Hailey was visiting and for some reason her and Ava were more than happy to model for me. Well, it could have been the candy that made them happy to do it, but either way they did it. lol! I just love that N sells these petti rompers in larger sizes too! The headbands are so pretty and match her rompers perfectly and can also be found in her Etsy shop.

Fifty Two on Fridays {Week 13} Friend

The timing of this topic couldn't be better. Forgive me if I get a little transparent this week. You see, I've had this friend for nearly 25 years. Since we were little brats in the 3rd grade. I don't remember much about my childhood, selective memory perhaps, but I do remember a lot about her and the things we did. But 2 years ago our friendship took a break. A.sudden.halting.break. I'm not sure really quite what happened but I do know now, looking back, that the Lord was teaching me A LOT about myself. And of course, the hard way. We just reconnected about a month ago and her and her hubby, and girls came to stay with us this past weekend. I don't know why i'm surprised, but I am, at the fact that it didn't feel like it had been two years. It felt like I laughed with her just days ago. Her being with me feels like home, and it is. Only something so real, with love so deep, could make it through that. I feel like we've come through the fire with proof that we are gold. I've had silver in my life, lots of it. But Jena you are my gold and I love you! {she might kill me because I think I mentioned I'd put up one photo of her!}
What!? There were too many that were so "her" so I had to put them up. lol!

The M Family {Big Bear Lake Arrowhead Family Photography}

The M family and I met up last weekend for a family session. The weather was threatening to rain and it was so cold. The kids did really well running around this gorgeous field despite the low temps though. Daddy is leaving to serve in Afghanistan tomorrow so getting this session done was a priority.
