Sweet Baby Drew.......

I had a dry spell of newborns in the last month and i'm not handling it well at all. So naturally when Drew's mama called I was so excited! Little Drew is so handsome and did so good. By the time the session was over though he'd absolutely had enough of me. Little Drew, it was so nice to meet you sweet baby! And thank you Becky for choosing me to capture these precious moments of your handsome blessing!
Enjoy!

The Johnson Family.....

I had the lovely opportunity recently to go back to my home-town and do a family session with the Johnsons. Although the cloud cover offered plenty of shade is was just darn right fuh-reeeeeezing out there. They did really good and baby Ella was a little trooper. Anytime she was sat down for the next shot she would just take off! When mom scheduled the session Ella wasn't walking yet....now she is really good at running! She is just precious. And what's very impressive to me is that mom made that dress! How cute is that!!?
Thank you Johnson family for choosing me to capture these times in your life. It was truly my pleasure.

Here is your sneak peek....

Branching out into Boudoir....

I have decided that I will now offer tasteful Boudoir photography. I had a session yesterday and it was sooo much fun. My style is very clean and sweet, not raunchy in any way. It's a great feeling to make a woman feel good about herself and give her something that she will cherish forever. I will be creating a new blog and new branding for this division of my business. Stay tuned for more information! I'm so excited!

Valentines Day is sneaking up FAST!

I didn't get the time to send out Christmas cards. Besides as much as I would like to be really good at mailing things I.am.just.not.
So...in a continuous effort to fight my own failing attemps to be better at it...I am way ahead of the game! I did a session with my kids the other day for our Valentines cards that was nothing short of a miracle. It was beautiful and I was stunned. Ever hear the saying that a plumber's pipes are always leaking or a contractor's house is always in need of repair? Well a photographers child is always RUNNING from the camera - at a very high rate of speed in the OTHER direction! If you do manage to hold them still whether by strong netting or being fast with the duct tape you will be LUCKY to get a smile out of them. It's just what it is and it stinks. But since I got lucky and DID get some sweet stuff I'm actually going to send them out ON TIME. I even have the envelopes addressed!
Here is one version...(I can't show the actual card because then it would ruin the surprise for those that will get them in the mail.)

and here are just a few more peeks from that miraculous session!

Day 19
You've got a friend in me. :)
My sons toys always somehow inspire me. It might be my active imagination or just the fact that they are so colorful and I love how he can sit at the table and have conversations between them for hours. He's very creative in how he plays and it's really entertaining. Tonight he was playing with his Toy Story set and Buzz Lightyear was saving the little martians from the evil guy, Zurg. :)

Really? Is it really the 16th!? of 2010?

Time goes by so fast. Life is so busy with activity and deadlines and obligations...and taking pictures of other people's adorable kids. I find that most of the time my own kids don't get their picture taken very often anymore. It's alot more work now that I know all the things about taking a great picture. No more putting them on the couch and snapping a picture quickly that I would have been perfectly happy with. Those days are gone and I miss them. Now I have to put them in sweet little outfits and make a dang Portrait Session out of it! I am sure they hate it. So sure in fact that I used to be able to get genuine sweet smiles out of them but now I've had to resort to the "bribery beans" and pray the bribery works!! That brought me to day 13...the "Bribery Beans". These ARE in fact magic beans and they do work..most of the time. I encourage all moms everywhere to get a bribery bean container and keep it handy at all times. For portrais or snapshots or to avoid the impending tantrum in the Target aisles....it will save your life. ;0)

and that brings me to day 14....when I mention the beans....the little finger presses toward her cheek (the sign for candy) and she promptly went over and sat down in my pile of pettiskirts....see the bribery bean worked..

Pixels in Your Pocket

Some of you who follow my facebook know that I have a "column" of sorts called Pixels In Your Pocket. I like to post helpful tips and hints for everyday people who just need some pointers for taking pictures. I haven't done one in a long time and this will be the first posted on my blog! yay!

I was inspired by a materntity session that I booked today and so I started creating some "what to wear" guides. I started with a maternity couple and then I did a family and a senior girl's outfit as well.
If you know me you know that I like to tell people to think of the couches at Ikea or Pottery Barn and try to visualize how they usually will have 6-7 very different pillows all over them...yet somehow they all go together. So today I thought it would be fun to put the pillows to action!
These pillows can be purchased at Pottery Barn. They are beautiful aren't they? I just want to sit there and read a book.

Another tip when dressing yourself or your family: Try to dress yourself in something that you wouldn't necessarily be able to wear everyday but that in your daydreams...you would. Don't wear something that would be everyday wear. Dream a little! It's fun!

Imagine these colors outside with grassy fields, fallen trees that you could sit on, maybe a bridge or old building and lots of pretty sunlight. It might be cold outside but these colors will bring a warmth to your walls all year long.

This one is LITTLE! ~ I hope you can see it!! I messed up when making it..I'll have to remake it later. :)
